Shooting victim charged with marijuana possession

COTTONWOOD-The Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking Task force, P.A.N.T., served a search warrant late Wednesday afternoon in Cottonwood for a marijuana growing operation on 18th Street. The home is at the site of a shooting last week in which two people were injured.

About 4:15 p.m. Detectives from P.A.N.T. and G.I.I.T.E.M. and the Cottonwood Police Department served a search warrant in the 100 block of South 18th Street. Detectives obtained a warrant to search for evidence of illegal activity. During the search numerous marijuana plants (in violation of state statute) were seized along with drug paraphernalia.

Detectives received information in the days prior that led them to believe 44-year-old Melquedes Cordova Jr. of Cottonwood had been growing and cultivating marijuana in violation of Arizona law.

At the time of the shooting, Cordova had expressed to Cottonwood Police that he was legitimately growing medical marijuana but police believed at that time that the number of plants exceeded a permit.

Charges against Cordova Jr. will be forwarded to the Yavapai County Attorney for review for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and misconduct involving weapons. For further information contact the Partners Against Narcotics Trafficking Taskforce."

I understood what you were saying and I thought you got your point across just fine . . . but I blame your lack of finese with the pen on Arizona politicians.

"Arizona schools were ranked in the bottom 10 states in a national report Thursday that gave the state a below–average grade in student achievement, teacher requirements and state spending, among other areas."

@Grey Fox-Ridge, maybe you should lighten up on that wacky weed. That way when you try to debate the pros and/or cons for dispensaries more people will be more likely to back you, if they have a arguement they could actually understand. Without agony of deciphering your vocabulary and spelling. We do have spell check these days....

This is exactly the reason why Arizona should allow " Pot Shop's" to open more easily as
California has. In Orange County(30 L.A.) for example, there is over 100 of theese
"collectives" as they are typically termed, In Santa Ana alone there are close to 50 locations
where patients with proper credentials and a valid DR's Recomendation can purchase High Quality-Medical Grade Cannibus Products.
My cousin who is a O.C. Sherrifs Deputy tells me that although there is some abuse and misuse of these facilities- Street Corner Pot Pushers have all but disapeared and "In Home Marijuana Cultivation arrests are way down.
Not to mention the tax revenue generated by these businesses.Perhaps if there were a couple of these places in the Verde Valley there would be no need for Home Cultivation,
at least to the extent that it becoms a target for
