Adopt For Life President Kyla Allen receives a $900 check Sedona Verde Valley Association of Realtors President Gary Lund

On Jan. 10, the Sedona Verde Valley Association of Realtors did an amazing thing for the Adopt For Life Center for Animals.

That evening was the SVVAR's annual Installation Event at the Vineyard Bistro in Old Town Cottonwood.

Gary Lund, of Simply Rentals Property Management, was introduced as the new president but Gary wanted to do something more with the evening.

Gary had pre-arranged that all ticket sales be donated to the Adopt For Life Center and he didn't stop there. He also provided each SVVAR member with a "shelter needs list" and let members know if they brought something from the list to the event, they would get a discount on their drinks.

And those that arrived without something from list were encouraged to provide a cash donation to the shelter.

By the end of the evening, AFL President Kyla Allen and Treasurer Ellen Yates were awarded with a $900 check to the shelter for the tickets sold, over $600 in cash for the donations provided on site and nearly 250 pounds of food for the shelter dogs and cats.

"We received food bowls, blankets, bleach, paper towels, and other much needed items for the shelter. It was an incredible event given by some very giving people," said Allen. "We want to thank all the members of SVVAR, and especially Gary Lund, for not just thinking about the homeless pets in our community, but for being a truly action minded and giving organization."
