COTTONWOOD--Two young students have been charged with vandalizing basketball backboards at Mingus Union High School. A Cottonwood Police officer was called to the school Friday just before 6 and found four teen boys. Three of the backboards had been shattered.
Two witnesses told the cop that they had been playing ball with two others there. One of the backboards on the northwest corner was already broken, but the young teens, aged 12 and 14, threw rocks at two other backboards until they were broken as well.
Their parents were called and both were referred to juvenile detention.
The school valued the backboards' worth at just under $1,000.
