12/1/2012 3:45:00 PM Yavapai Healthy Living Coalition to host interactive workshop Monday, Dec. 3
The Yavapai Healthy Living Coalition consists of representatives from Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG), Northern Arizona VA Healthcare System, Verde Valley Guidance Clinic, West Yavapai Guidance Clinic, Yavapai County Community Health Services and Yavapai Regional Medical Center. The coalition was formed nearly a year ago to raise awareness of the Healthy Living Workshops in Yavapai County and to make sure the workshops are offered consistently throughout the year in multiple locations.
Healthy Living workshops:
Are for people with ongoing health problems or caretakers with a loved that has an ongoing health problem.
Meet once a week for 2 and a half hours for six weeks.
Are highly interactive, with discussion encouraged between participants.
Cover subjects that include healthy eating, communication, making decisions, managing medications, and working with the health care systems.
Are designed to be empowering, providing tools for managing an ongoing health condition.
Many of the coalition members have made the Health Living Workshops an integral part of the services they provide and work together to ensure the program is available to anyone in Yavapai County that could benefit from what the classes offer, at no charge.
On Monday, Dec. 3, the coalition will be meeting to discuss future trainings and workshop opportunities in Yavapai County. If you would like to attend and get more information about Health Living or the coalition, the meeting will be held at 1090 Commerce Drive in the Yavapai County Community Health Services training room at 1:30 p.m.
