2/23/2012 4:04:00 PM Wal-Mart accepting applications for $25,000 grants
The Wal-Mart Foundation Arizona State Advisory Council has opened its annual spring application for the Arizona State Giving Program. Wal-Mart invites all Arizona nonprofit organizations to apply. If selected, organizations receive a minimum grant of $25,000.
Applications will be accepted at http://walmartstores.com/CommunityGiving/9632.aspx through March 2.
Grants recipients are selected within four areas of focus, including workforce development, health and wellness, education and environmental sustainability. Additionally, Wal-Mart has made a $2 billion commitment through 2015 to fight to end world hunger, and invites all nonprofits with similar goals to apply.
The Arizona State Giving Program donates thousands of dollars annually to Arizona nonprofits who share Wal-Mart's mission of creating opportunities to help people live better.
In 2011, more than $800,000 in grants were awarded to a variety of local charitable organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona and the Northern Arizona Food Bank.
