LAKE HAVASU -- An 8-year-old Cottonwood girl was killed in a Lake Havasu boating accident Monday. Sarah Roderick was pronounced dead after she was struck by the propeller of the pontoon boat the family had rented for the day.

The girl, three other children and her parents were in the 24-foot 2000 Premier Pontoon boat operated by the girl's 43-year-old father.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office says the accident occurred about 3:40 p.m. in the south basin of the lake. The craft was traveling north. Sarah, who was sitting on the bow of the boat wearing a life vest, fell off the boat, which then passed over her. The 24-foot pontoon boat was reported to be moving slowly forward at the time.

The girl's parents pulled Sarah from the water and called for help as they headed to shore, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

My prayers are with this family. She looks like a beautiful child. You will see her again someday.

"Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God." (Matthew 5:8) I remember seeing Noreen & the kids at Pizza Hut several months ago. Sarah was quick to join in when I blew my straw cover at her. I see her in my mind's eye now, splashing water from the creek with Jesus, laughing & happy.....My heart is burdened for you & your children, Scott and Noreen. I want to help in some way... May our Father in Heaven carry you in your sorrow and grief.

Words cannot express how sorry we are for your loss. May God soothe your grief for Sarah and lift your hearts when you remember her. Our daughter finds comfort that Sarah knew Jesus and she smiles when she thinks of Sarah being with Him. We can only imagine what we will do when we see Jesus, but we have no doubt that Sarah ran to Him with open arms. God bless you all.

We are deeply saddened and offer our condolences for the Roderick family. Our church (Calvary Chapel) is praying for the family, and will be praying, during these difficult days ahead.
May the LORD put His arms around each family member and give them the peace that passes all understanding, and may the God of Comfort - comfort them in this time.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you not as the world gives do i give to you. Jesus (John 14:27
