Overnight bridge work on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction
8/19/2012 7:31:00 AM
The following late night closures and restrictions will be in place on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction next week as crews work on new bridges over the highway, according to the
Arizona Department of Transportation
:
Monday through Thursday, Aug. 20-23 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., the southbound lanes of I-17 will be closed at the
Arcosanti
bridge (new bridge north of existing Cordes Junction bridge). Southbound traffic will be shifted to the new off and on ramps at the bridge.
Monday, Aug. 20 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. drivers on northbound I-17 can expect alternating lane restrictions to allow crews to perform temporary striping and relocate concrete barriers.
Drivers are encouraged to adjust their travel schedules in order to avoid the closures or allow extra time to reach their destinations.
The work is part of a $50 million project to reconstruct the I-17/State Route 69 traffic interchange.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit.
