There are new benefits that seniors need to know about. These new Medicare benefits can help to keep you well:
1) People with Medicare Part B can now meet yearly with your doctor to review your health and develop a personalized prevention plan--no deductible or co-payment involved.
2) If you have reached the "donut-hole" in prescription coverage, your medication costs have been reduced from full payment to a 50% discount on covered brand-name prescription drugs.
3) Health Counseling is now available at no extra cost if you do not have a related illness. If you do, it is still covered with coinsurance, and deductibles may apply. Also covered is nutrition therapy for diabetes or kidney disease.
4) Health screenings are covered, such as bone-mass measurement and colorectal cancer screening. Also included are screenings for depression and alcohol misuse. Using these benefits may mean staying out of the hospital or nursing home. For more information about preventive services go to www.Medicare.gov and click on Manage Your Health.
