Call for vendors at Verde Valley Fall Festival

Oct. 19-21

Booth spaces just became available for fine art, artisans, crafters, and food vendors at the second annual Verde Valley Fall Festival hosted by Jackpot Ranch. The 300 spaces will fill up fast, so please submit your application as soon as you are ready to be part of a fun and profitable three-day weekend event.

Activities include a huge pumpkin patch, live music, a carnival, hay rides, Kids zone, wine tasting and beer garden and much more.

AZ Heart Institute, Legion Post 93 provide stroke screening

Aug. 30

Camp Verde American Legion Post 93 and the Arizona Heart Institute will provide low-cost stroke screenings to the public. The Life Line Screening program offers a bundle of five ultrasound tests designed to help determine an individual’s risk of a stroke.

Statistics show that 80 percent of strokes can be prevented if risk factors are detected and minimized.

The screening will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the American Legion Post 93 parking lot, 276 S. Third St. Pre-registration is required and can be made by calling 1-800-679-5192. Use priority code HSC7356.



Tea Party hosts Vote Rally

Aug. 4

The Cottonwood Tea Party will host a Vote Right Rally, on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. Bring flags, banners, signs, patriotic clothing and patriotic spirit to help tell the world that you want the greatest country the world has ever known, the United States of America, restored to its former constitutional values.

It will be held at the Chamber of Commerce, corner of state routes 89A and 260. Water will be made available. Call Bob at (928) 639-4753 for more info.



Living with Loss Support Group

The Living with Loss Support Group at the Cornville Mission, 1155 S. Page Springs Road in Cornville, meets every Wednesday, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Page Springs Cellars preps Harvest Festival

Sept. 2

For Page Springs Cellars’ seventh annual Harvest Festival, doors open at 2:30 p.m. and music starts at 3 p.m. The band Wicked Koalition headlines, with music also provided by Alisa Fineman and Kimball Hurd, Decker; City Folk and Redland. For the kids there will be hay bale mazes, face painting, magicians, clowns and balloon twisters. Also look for games of horseshoes and bocce. The event is at the Estate Vineyard on Cornville Road.

Tickets for this year’s event are $28 for Page Springs Cellars wine club members, $38 for the general public – all of which include a reusable GoVino glass. If available, tickets will be $10 more on the day of the event. Admission for children 12 and under is free.

Mingus Union High School 30+/- Reunion

Sept. 28-29

The MUHS Classes of 1975–1985 will hold a reunion the last weekend of September. Friday night: 5 p.m., Tour the Mingus Campus. At 7 p.m., No Host Casual Gathering at Players Bar and Grill, 1100 SR 89A, Cottonwood.

Saturday: 8 a.m., Best Ball Golf Tournament, Pine Shadows Golf Course, 1480 W Groseta Rand Road, Cottonwood Fee: $21 per player. At 11 a.m. Bring your own Picnic / Gathering at Clarkdale Park, Main and Clarkdale Parkway. At 6 p.m., Social Dinner / Dance, Verde Valley Fair Grounds, 800 E Cherry St., Cottonwood Fee: $15 per person, includes Mexican dinner and DJ; No host bar – separate fee charged by fairgrounds.

Davis hosts community meeting in Cornville

Aug. 8

County Supervisor Chip Davis will be hosting a community meeting in Cornville at the Oak Creek School, 11490 Purple Sage Road at 7 p.m. Joining him will be Nate Auvenshine, area commander for the Sheriff’s office, Terri Nelson, GIS and Verl Cook, Area Roads Superintendent.
