Cornfest returns to Camp Verde
July 20-21
The 21st annual Cornfest will be in downtown Camp Verde for two days, Friday 3-10 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Twenty-one years ago this month, the town of Camp Verde began celebrating that tradition, and the Cornfest was born.
Friday, July 20, and Saturday, July 21, it will be back in full swing. For the corn purist, Friday’s the day to go. From 3 to 10 p.m. there will be at least 50 dozen ears of roasted corn for your gastronomic pleasure, lots of vendors and from 6 p.m. on, music to munch by.
Nikki Miller with Camp Verde Productions says the organizers have tried to create an entire day of fun stuff for families. And they have taken into account it will be the middle of July.
There will be birdie golf, courtesy of the folks at Beaver Creek Golf Course. There will be three-legged races, shoe races, a water balloon toss, sack races, water balloon volleyball, hog calling, a corny joke contest and a “top shot water blaster contest.”
There will also be a hot air balloon tethered to the soccer field for those who might like to get a view of Camp Verde from 80 feet. Several nonprofits will be hosting games of chance and a couple of 3 to 5 year olds will be crowned the Corn Prince and Princess.
