Literature reading night at Bent River
On Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. Bent River Books and Music will be hosting a reading of literature, poetry and prose about the United States of America.
This reading will celebrate our democratic heritage and the first amendment to the Constitution by being run open mic style. If you have something to share about our American heritage or the direction of its future please get up onstage at Bent River Books and spend eight minutes sharing it.
Readers are encouraged to share famous ideas and words from our history. If the words of Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Malcom X, General George S. Patton or anyone else have moved you please get up and share those words with others so that they are moved as well.
Performers are absolutely encouraged to share the words of Davey Crockett, Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Ed Abbey, or any other hero who inspires them.
Performers will also be sharing why America is important to them in their own words and many of the Verde Valley better known poets and authors pouring their hearts out onstage.
With such a large body of American literature and speeches to choose from we are curious and enthusiastic to see what pieces our performers will choose to share.
