Gallery: Cornville Post Office Markers Dedication
5/26/2012 2:19:00 PM
The descendants of Charles and Jessie Chick, Cornville pioneers and long-time Postmasters, were the guests of honor at the Historic Marker Dedication that took place at Windmill Gardens in Cornville on Saturday, May 19. Judy Miller, of the Cornville Historical Society, coordinated the event and introduced guest speakers, including Yavapai County Supervisor Chip Davis, and special guests Margaret Chick Miller, daughter of Charles and Jessie Chick, and Clarkdale artist Benton Henry, whose painting of the old Cornville Post Office has been used as a fundraising instrument by the historical society. After introductions and speeches, the two steel markers, which reside across the street from each other at the original locations of the post office, now the sites of Windmill Gardens and Banker Insulation, were unveiled with the assistance of Margaret and the many Chick family members in attendance. The Cornville Historical Society would like to bring the old post office building back to the Windmill Gardens location, provided the necessary funds to move and restore the building can be raised.
