Take home some wine trail history with auction of barrels at symposium

 Beautifully-painted Wine Trail Barrels, adorned by Verde Valley artists and placed throughout the Verde Valley are now available to purchase at the Wine Trail Painted Barrel Auction. Tastings of Verde Valley wines, hors d'oeurves, a chocolate fountain and the fun auction will follow the Wine Trail Symposium at the Cliff Castle Casino Hotel April 28, from 3 until 5 p.m.

Businesses participating in the promotional campaign have been hosting the decorative wine barrels since November 2010, according to Lana Tolleson, President of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce. Now they are going to permanent homes and the second round of the specially crafted barrels will begin.

Many have opted to purchase the colorful barrels they have hosted, but Tolleson says 26 of the barrels will be on display on the hotel patio during the wine tasting and will be auctioned to the highest bidder. Its fun and a great chance to own a piece of the Verde Wine Trail history. It is all to benefit to the Viticulture Program at Yavapai College. Part of the proceeds will be used to launch round two painted barrels.

An elegant dinner will be served at 6:00 p.m., with a keynote speaker and a silent auction to benefit the Verde Valley Wine Consortium. Tickets for this all day event are $125.00 for complete access, all meals and tastings included; $100 for the Verde Valley Wine Consortium members. A special room rate of $79.95 per night plus tax is available at the hotel for both Friday and Saturday night for symposium attendees.
