Chris

Do you remember the person you looked up to as a kid? Is there someone who sticks out in your mind that had a great influence on you growing up and has helped shape the person you are today?

What if you never had that special relationship, imagine how different your life would be. Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters has over 400 children waiting on a person like you to be that same inspiration in their life. The majority of the kids in our program are being raised by a single mom or grandparent.

Women are great role models but when it comes to guy stuff, a male companion is what these boys need. Make a difference in a boy's life, simply by volunteering to become a Big Brother today!

Meet Chris, a 16-year-old who has a passion for playing the guitar. He has both an electric and acoustic guitar and has been playing since he was 7. Chris also likes computers. One of his favorite things to do is draw and paint.

Chris is involved in a youth group at his neighborhood church where he participates in video game tournaments, bowling, music and prayer. Chris would like a Big Brother who could play sports with him and possibly teach him to rock climb.

In school, art is Chris' favorite subject. Before trying traditional schooling, Chris was homeschooled since he was five years old. Chris says his goal is to stay in school and take the necessary classes to go to college for pre-med, so he can be a surgeon one day.

Chris lives with his mother, grandmother and his four younger half siblings. She thinks that Chris needs a Big Brother to serve as a positive male figure in his life to help encourage his strengths, talents, and education.

Join Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters today by becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister to a young person like Chris! Just a few hours a couple times a month is all it takes to change a life. Contact Big Brothers Big Sisters Verde Valley/Sedona office at 928-634-9789 or online at www.azbigs.org. Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters is a volunteer and donor supported organization proven to help the most vulnerable children in our communities succeed through one-to-one relationships. The organization currently serves 17 communities and over 60 school sites within Yavapai County and Sedona.
