Sandra Lee Newton, 69, of Sedona died July 27.
She was born February 25, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Elmer P. and Rose H. Cinader Newton.
She worked as a waitress. She enjoyed her grandchildren, family and friends.
Mrs. Newton was preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves her husband of 53 years, Dean Newton; sons Jerry of Sedona, Tommy (Bev) and Ronald (Ivy), both of Cottonwood; brother John Condon (Julie) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters, Patty Pulsifer (Paul) of Congress; stepsisters, Byrna Falkner of Prescott and Kathy Martinez (Joe) of Estancia, New Mexico; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held Monday, August 2, in the Sedona Assembly of God Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in the Sedona Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory made to Verde Valley Community Hospice, 859 Cove Parkway, Suite #103, Cottonwood, AZ 86326.

Dean We didn't get to know either of you well,but we all grew up in together in our youth. I know words can't help all that much, but you both left the impression that true love was possible all through the yeas. i feel Sandy will stay close to you Nina (Pendley) Lovett

Dean and Family, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your wife and mother. My prayers are with you as you walk through this valley. I am your cousin ( Aunt Nancy's Daughter - Uncle Aut's sister - she went to be with the Lord in September of 2008) My sister Rose and I are the last two left of our family. Dear Dean and family, All of us in the Merchant family are deeply sorry for the sudden loss of your wife, mother, and grandmother and great grandma.. You have all been in our thoughts and prayers. We never got the chance to know Sandra, but her grandsons always have spoken very highly of her and Dean to us. We understand in a real way what it's like to loose someone like this..
