4/22/2014 2:11:00 PM Controversial Verde projects face County P&Z
COTTONWOOD -- It could be a well-attended but heated meeting of the Yavapai County Planning and Zoning Commission in Cottonwood Wednesday morning with two controversial items before the board.
Montezuma Rimrock Water Company has asked for a use permit to place a well on a non-confirming lot in Lake Montezuma Estates near the intersection of Bentley Drive and Tiemann Lane. Neighbors, especially John Dougherty and Ivo Buddeke, have fought against the water company and owner Patsy Olsen frequently in recent years, over permits, arsenic treatment and rate increases.
The second major item moves to Cornville, where the Soaring Eagle Foundation wants a zoning map change to allow a planned area development zoning on land formerly used as the Living Waters retreat. Neighbors are expected to gather to repeat their protests to the board about traffic, noise and third party uses.
The CSE foundation hopes to use the site as its main location for campers' weekends and events to serve critically ill children
The Planning commission meets at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning in the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 10 S. Sixth St. in Cottonwood.
