COTTONWOOD-- It has been a double punch for Michele Massaro and Randall's Restaurant is stepping up to help out. Michele has been a waitress at the popular Cottonwood eatery for three years. She has been around Cottonwood for seven years having worked at Hobo Joe's before Randall's. But, she has been out of work for nine weeks and the benefit supper Wednesday is to help her get back on her feet.
It all started when a customer had a seizure in the restaurant and Michele put her body in front of the man's fall to keep him from hitting his head.
The customer was saved, but, unfortunately, Michele's awkward catch tore her rotator cuff and she had to have surgery to repair her shoulder and then the physical therapy for weeks following.
Then, the day Michele returned to work, she had a cat scratch on her forehead that became infected and before the end of the day she was back in the hospital.
Michele says she is very appreciative for all the help.
"I just want to thank everyone, the community and the camaraderie of the restaurant. This is really a friends and family establishment 100 percent. I just want to say so much how much they have done for me and how much love I have for them. They are my whole family."
