The health of the Verde Valley's kids took center stage Thursday, April 18, when the Verde Valley Medical Center unveiled its latest effort to invest in community health. Cottonwood Mayor Diane Joens, VVMC Interim President and CEO Barbara Dember, and local children cut the ribbon at the Fit Kids of Arizona's new home in the Riverfront Commons Building, 637 N. Main St.
"Verde Valley Medical Center is dedicated to improving the health of the community as a whole, and our Fit Kids program extends that by focusing on our children and working to prevent health problems before they begin," VVMC Interim President and CEO Barbara Dember said.
NBC's Biggest Loser Season 12 winner John Rhode also made an appearance encouraging kids and their families to make healthy lifestyle decisions.
Fit Kids of Arizona is Northern Arizona Healthcare's regional community health initiative to assist children and their families in developing healthy lifestyles while reducing the problems and illnesses associated with excess weight.
