Woman caught with bogus check

COTTONWOOD -- A Cottonwood woman and her niece were questioned after the woman cashed a cashier's check that apparently was fraudulent. Mary Edwards' husband went to police and said his account was now overdrawn since the check bounced. Bank of America employees say the check was run through special equipment used to validate such documents, but the machine did not signal the check was bogus and it was cleared, until it returned a couple days later not valid.

The 62-year-old woman was interviewed while in jail on separate charges. She said she had received the check in the mail, but didn't know who it was from. She cashed it after a couple days and did not know it was counterfeit.

The woman's personal account was debited for the amount she had cashed: $4,870.

This must be one of those stories you have to put into an order of sequence of what happened first, what next and what last, Saw sometning of that nature on Dora the Explorer on Channel 8 recently.

Article comment by: Who did what? I am confused

I find this article to be a bit ambiguous. A "woman and her niece..." then, "Mary Edward's husband...".

Who are the woman and her niece? Who is Mary Edwards? Is she the one in jail? If so, what about her niece? And where does Mary Edward's husband come into play here?

I am still trying to figure out what happened and who did what?

Hmmmmmm....
