Sedona returns to Fodor's Top 10 Small Town list

Raquel Hendrickson

SEDONA - Sedona is in the spotlight again.

Last week, Fodor's Travel Guide released its annual "10 Best Small Towns in America" list for tourists. This time, Sedona landed at No. 3.

The publication's list is based on populations under 50,000 with tourism draws such as eateries, museums, cultural events and outdoor opportunities.

Sedona was tagged for its "striking vistas and natural splendors" combined with its immense variety of culture, from vortices and spas to jeep tours and upscale lodging facilities.

"We will definitely reap the benefits of being in such a prestigious publication," said Jennifer Wesselhoff, president/CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce. "These are really popular travel guides."

Sedona has made the top 10 lists in Fodor's before, both as a great small town and as the location for a great hike.

"Just to be positioned with other places on the list as a top small town in America is a real honor," Wesselhoff said. "Many people use those travel guides to put these towns on their bucket list."

The travel guide's points of attraction aligned with the Chamber's selling points as well. The three areas the Chamber promotes are outdoor adventure, art and culture, and the spiritual and personal enrichment opportunities.

"And we're really happy that they chose to feature some really great businesses in town," Wesselhoff said.

Specifically tapped were Elote Café, Dahl & DiLuca's, Enchantment Resort and its Mii Amo spa, L'Auberge and Sky Ranch Lodge.

Tops on Fodor's list was Healdsburg, Calif., a small town in wine country with something for everyone whatever their bank accounts.
