COTTONWOOD - Pam Miller, publisher and CEO of Verde Valley Newspapers, will serve as President of the Arizona Newspaper Association for 2013. Miller has served on the ANA's board of directors for the past four years.
"She has also participated on the ANA Marketing Committee prior to joining our board," said Paula Casey, executive director of ANA. "She is dedicated to making ANA a better organization for the betterment of newspapers in Arizona."
As publisher of Verde Valley Newspapers, Miller is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the Verde Independent in Cottonwood and the Bugle in Camp Verde. She also oversees publication of Kudos a weekly arts and entertainment guide in Sedona and the Verde Valley, and she is responsible for the Villager, a monthly community newspaper in the Village of Oak Creek, as well as verdenews.com, cvbugle.com and kudoz.com.
Miller grew up in the Prescott area where she attended Prescott High School. She worked on her high school newspaper and later became editor of her community college newspaper.
She went to work for the Daily Courier in Prescott as a sales representative, and she moved up to advertising manager and advertising director. In 2004, Miller was promoted to publisher and CEO of Verde Valley Newspapers. Both Verde Valley Newspapers and the Prescott Courier are owned by Western News&Info.
Miller said she has found the changes she has witnessed over the past 30 years in the newspaper business to be both exciting and incredible.
She has served as past chair of the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce and as board member of the Verde Valley Guidance Clinic. She also has served on several boards including Yavapai Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Yavapai Silent Witness, and Buena Vista Children Services in Cottonwood.
She is married to Leonard Miller since 2007, and she has twin 16-year-old boys and a 13-year-old daughter.
