from College of American Pathologists
Verde Valley Medical Center's Laboratory has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), based on the results of a recent onsite inspection.
"VVMC's Laboratory performs approximately 300,000 tests per year," said Karen McMullin, VVMC Laboratory director. "Complying with the several hundred regulations CAP sets, combined with the expertise of our staff, allows VVMC to care for our patients in an efficient, timely manner. This is especially important in critical and emergency situations."
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is an internationally recognized program and the only one of its kind to utilize teams of practicing laboratory professionals as inspectors. Designed to go above regulatory compliance regulations, the program helps laboratories achieve the highest standard of excellence to positively impact patient care.
The goal of the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is to improve patient safety by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services through education, setting standards and ensuring laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements.
"The inspection process is an opportunity for an additional and independent evaluation of the quality of our lab," McMullin said. "It also gives the community and our patients the assurance that VVMC is meeting and exceeding all the many safety and quality regulations, making our patients our top priority."
Additionally VVMC offers lab services at VVMC's Sedona Campus, 3700 W. State Route 89A; Village of Oak Creek clinic, 61 Bell Rock Plaza, Hwy 179; and Camp Verde clinic, 460 Finnie Flats Rd.
