Betty and Sebastien Lauzon opened the Desert Rose Bed & Breakfast May 1 at 4190 E. Bridle Path Rd. in Cottonwood. The resort-style bed and breakfast will be open 365 days a year.
The innkeepers speak Portuguese, English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. They promote their inn as a "true resort bed and breakfast" in a quaint rural setting that will provide guests with an authentic Arizona experience.
Three guest accommodations are available, one with private bath. Occupancy rate is between $79 and $139. A two-night minimum stay is required, but a single-night stay is offered for an additional $20. Smoking is allowed outdoors only, and children are limited to only "well-behaved children. Contact the innkeepers before making plans to bring children. Daycare is limited.
A Continental plus breakfast is included. Breakfast is served between 8 and 9 a.m. Lunch is available by special request for $25.
In-room amenities include air-conditioning, hot tub/whirlpool, television with cable, Wi-Fi, telephone and private entrance. On-site amenities include barbecue grill, desk, copier, secretarial services, board games, computer, fax machine and TV video games.
The Desert Rose sits on a spacious, grassy lot, and the house is large with two different living rooms.
The Lauzons say they provide personal attention with a very high level of service.
Although the inn is operated now with two employees, the Lauzons expect to employ four or five when they become busy. They predict 30 percent occupancy during this first year, with steady growth until they hit 90 percent occupancy after five years.
